Five Swat cops suspended over death in custody

SWAT: Swat district police officer Shafiullah Khan Gandapur on Saturday suspended five officials in connection with the murder case of a youth.

In-charge District Security Branch (DSB) Imtiaz Khan, SHO Banar police station Ayaz Khan, muharrar Saba Khan, head constable Safir Khan, and DSB constable Mohammad Rashid were suspended for being involved in the murder of the youth, Ubaid Khan. They would also face the joint investigation team formed in the case.

Meanwhile, Swat police chief also transferred and replaced all the DSB staff. After ordering appointment of the new staff, he said those policemen would be appointed to Swat DSB, who had never worked with it before.

Meanwhile, like other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, petrol shortages surfaced in Swat as local residents said they purchased petrol at higher prices. Due to the shortage, long queues of automobiles and motorcycles were witnessed at filling stations in different parts of Swat, including Mingora.

“I went to a filling station where there was a long queue of vehicles, and I got petrol at Rs300 per litre,” said Haroon Khan, a resident of Faizabad.

On the other hand, people said Iranian petrol was being sold in grocery shops at Rs400 per litre.

However, Petroleum Association Swat said the government reduced supply of petrol to all the filling stations, causing its shortage.
