Conference resolves to tighten security of foreigners in AJK

MUZAFFARABAD: A coordination conference held on Saturday resolved to strengthen measures to ensure foolproof security of foreignersin Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK)in the backdrop of the current situation in the country.

Presided over by AJK’s Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Amir Ahmad Sheikh, the conference was attended by other senior officials from the AJK police as well as from the army and intelligence agencies, based in Muzaffarabad, says an official press release.

The project director of the 969-megawatt Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project (NJHP), ajoint venture of two Chinese firms, was also among the attendees.

DIG Police Special Branch and Security Dr Liaqat Ali gave a briefing on the challenges to the security of foreigners engaged with some mega projects in Azad Kashmir.

According to the press release, the participants agreed to take concrete measures in close coordination with each other to make the security of foreigners more effective and efficient in the backdrop of the situation prevailing in the country.
