60-bed unit inaugurated at Chandka hospital

LARKANA: Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SMBBMU) vice chancellor Prof Dr Nusrat Shah on Monday inaugurated the recently built 60-bed paediatric unit-3 of the Chandka Medical College (CMC) Children Hospital.

Associate Prof Dr Dili Jan has already been appointed as the in-charge of the unit.

Prof Dr Shanti Lal, head of the children hospital, in a briefing to the VC, said this tertiary hospital would meet the treatment demands of people from upper Sindh and parts of Balochistan and Punjab. He said that the per month OPD at this hospital exceeded 40,000 patients where people were being provided medicines and other health care facilities.

Opening of the unit-3 was the need of the hour, as gradually the number of visiting patients was increasing, he said.

The VC, after inaugurating the unit, went round the Thalassaemia centre, paeds emergency unit and Kangaroo mother ward. She stressed the need for more research in the field.

She appreciated the services of doctors and paramedics who, she said always remained the frontline fighters.

Chandka Medical College principal Prof Dr Zameer Soomro, Dean Faculty of Medicines Prof Dr Alam Ibrahim Siddiqui, CMCH Medical Superintendent Dr Gulzar Tunio and others attended the ceremony.
