Five arrested in Dir honour killing case

LOWER DIR: Police here on Wednesday claimed to have arrested five persons involved in the killing of a youth on Chakdara bypass within 48 hours.

Briefing journalists at Chakdara police station, DPO Ikramullah said that Mohammad Izhar, a resident of Naway Kallay Batkhela, was killed in the name of honour in Daro village of Maidan.

He said it was not a robbery case but the deceased was killed in the name of honour.

He said a police team investigated the case on technical grounds and arrested five persons identified as Imadullah, Ziaullah, Asmatullah, Inamullah and Liaqat Ali, all residents of Maidan.

The DPO said that earlier a girl was killed in the name of honour in Daro Maidan village on suspicion that she had illicit relations with the deceased.

He added that the 30-bore pistol and the car used in the crime were also recovered from the arrested persons.

He said the body of the victim girl would be exhumed for autopsy. A case under sections 302, 324, 311 of PPC was registered against the arrested persons.
