KINNOW GROWTH

KINNOW GROWTH: Sargodha is famous for its kinnows. Unfortunately, the growth of the fruit has declined significantly. The traders are facing a huge loss in their exports. The government’s tariffs and taxes are really pressing their jugular vein rather hard. Besides, the crumbling infrastructure of the city has added to the woes of the textile trade. Together, the two economic segments are under pressure, decreasing the chances of Sargodha to contribute to the national economy in an appropriate way. The government should seriously reconsider its policies.

LEFT ALL ALONE: Since the monsoon devastation, many people in various villages have been forced to live under open skies. Tando Mirali is a case in point where people have been left to their own ways to see if survival is possible. The area is home to influential politicians, but no one has bothered to visit the flood-affected people even once after the devastation. The Sindh chief minister needs to visit the place and ensure relief aid for the locals.

KILLING POLICEMAN: Recently, a policeman was killed as he was trying to save a woman when someone was forcing her to accompany him in his car. Upon interruption, the policeman was shot at and he later succumbed to his injuries. In case the shooter was innocent, he could have surrendered and given his statement, but no such thing happened, making it an intentional murder. Society, alas, has fallen into the hands of the criminals.

A RISKY AFFAIR: Researchers have broadly attributed loss of hearing to unsafe listening practices, such as listening to music at a high volume. About one billion people aged 12-34 are at the risk of losing hearing strength globally, and 27 per cent of them are believed to be children owing to the various listening devices they use. One can easily make lifestyle adjustments to keep at bay such a grave threat as hearing loss.
