Census staff to be provided training: commissioner

RAWALPINDI: Commissioner Saqib Manan on Monday directed deputy commissioners of all six districts of Rawalpindi division to provide required venues and all the necessary facilities for the training of census staff.

In the first phase, master trainers will be given training in Rawalpindi, who will then go to their respective districts and tehsils and give training to the staff.

Each tehsil and cantonment board has been declared ad census district and assistant commissioner and cantonment executive officer has been nominated as census district officer. Mr Manan said the census was a very important and sensitive matter because on the basis of the results of the census, the government made future planning for development.

He assured that he would keep on visiting training centres and ensure the quality of training being delivered.

He stated this in a meeting held at Commissioner Office, which was attended by Deputy Commissioner Shoaib Ali and representatives of other relevant departments while deputy commissioners of Jhelum, Chakwal, Murree and Talagang participated through video link.

On this occasion, the census department informed the meeting about the required number of centres in all the districts.

A total of 104 centres will be established in Rawalpindi division, out of which 36 centres will be allocated for training in Rawalpindi, 14 in Attock, 14 in Chakwal and 10 centres in Jhelum.
