ISLAMABAD: The federal capital has seen 37 criminal activities daily in the current year due to the poor performance of the police.
According to the crime statistics of the capital police in the current year, there were 10,584 crimes against property – 2,087 robberies, 1,287 snatching, 1,127 burglaries, 2,273 thefts and 3,810 auto-thefts. Besides, there were 162 murder, 267 attempted murder, 382 hurt, three kidnapping for ransom and 901 kidnapping/rape cases.
Moreover, 220 road accidents also took place on different roads of the capital.
Senior officers of the police added that out of the 2,087 robberies, 670 were reported at Industrial Area Zone followed by 651 at Rural Zone, 614 at Saddar Zone and 170 at City Zone. After May 21, there were 1,070 robberies in the capital – 377 at Saddar Zone, 299 each at Rural and Industrial Area zones and 95 at City Zone.
Likewise, out of the total 1,287 incidents of snatching reported to the police since January, 452 were reported to Rural Zone, 399 to Industrial Area Zone, 325 to Saddar Zone and 111 to City Zone police. However, since May 22, there have been 629 incidents of snatching - 195, 193, 158 and 83 at Rural Zone, Saddar Zone, Industrial Area Zone and City Zone, respectively.
Similarly, out of the 1,127 burglaries, 468 were reported to Rural Zone police followed by 357 to Saddar Zone, 184 to City Zone and 118 to Industrial Area Zone police, the officers said. After May 21, there were also 554 burglaries - 234, 177, 81 and 62 at Rural Zone, Saddar Zone, City Zone and Industrial Area Zone, respectively.
Moreover, out of the 2,273 thefts, 641 occurred at Saddar Zone, 572 at Rural Zone, 540 at Industrial Area Zone and 520 at the City Zone.
Furthermore, out of 644 vehicle theft incidents, 225 were reported from Saddar Zone, 151 from City Zone, 135 from Industrial Area Zone and 133 from Rural Zone, the officers said.
Since May 21, the capital also saw 364 vehicle thefts - 131, 85, 77 and 71 at Saddar, City, Industrial Area and Rural zones, respectively.
Moreover, there were 3,166 motorcycle thefts and out of the total 1,052 were reported to Saddar Zone, 887 to Rural Zone, 662 to City Zone and 565 to the Industrial Area Zone police. After May 21, 1,825 motorcycles were stolen in the city - 680, 443, 376 and 326 from Saddar, Rural, City and Industrial Area zones, respectively.
Meanwhile, there were three kidnapping for ransom cases and all were reported to Rural Zone police.
During the current year, 64 murder cases were reported to the Rural Zone, 46 cases to City Zone, 39 to Saddar Zone and 10 to Industrial Area Zone police. The officers said 40 of the murder cases were reported after May 21 to Rural Zone police, 25 each to the City and Saddar zones and seven to the Industrial Area Zone.
Likewise, 111, 68, 54 and 32 attempted murder cases were reported to Rural Zone, Saddar Zone, City Zone and Industrial Area Zone, respectively, adding 53, 35, 28 and 15 of the cases were reported to Rural Zone, Saddar Zone, City Zone and Industrial Area Zone police after May 21.
Similarly, 153, 119, 63 and 47 incidents of hurt were reported to the police of Rural Zone, Saddar Zone, City Zone and Industrial Area Zone, they said, adding 91, 74, 46 and 32 of the incidents were reported to the Rural, Saddar, City and Industrial Area zones after May 21.
The officers said 388, 251, 170 and 92 kidnapping/rape cases were reported to the Rural, Saddar, City and Industrial Area zone police and 208, 153, 89 and 51 of the incidents were reported to the respective police after May 21.
There were also 31, 28, 25 and 21 fatal road accidents reported to Industrial Area, Rural, Saddar and City Zone police during the current year and 33, 32, 27 and 23 non-fatal road accidents occurred at Saddar, Rural, City and Industrial Area Zone.
