Tenders of 46 uplift projects cancelled

RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi District Council (RDC) on was forced on Monday to cancel tenders for 46 development projects worth Rs950 million in the district due to some dispute with contractors.

The RDC was to award contracts for construction of roads, streets, drains and tube wells in different union councils but the contractors refused to participate in the bidding alleging that the administration was awarding contract to some favourites.

The contractors alleged that the administration wanted to award the contract without following due procedures. When contacted, RDC Chief Officer Fazale Akram said tenders for the development schemes had been canceled as contractors did not participate in the bidding.

He said the police had been called for the security during the tendering process as usual and there was nothing special this time.
