LAHORE: Top seed Aqeel Khan and Mohammad Shoaib qualified for the men’s singles final of the seventh Hassan Tariq Rahim National Ranking Tennis Championship here at Lahore Gymkhana on Friday.

While Aqeel comfortably won his semi-final against Mohammad Abid 6-2, 6-3 in 35 minutes, Shoaib struggled against Muzammil Mur­taza in the first set before clinching his last-four match 7-6 (3), 6-3.

In the women’s singles, leading player Sarah Mehboob set the final date with Noor Malik.

Coming up to the expectations of her fans, Sara wrapped up the semi-final 6-0, 6-1 as Amna Qayyum could not match the speed and stamina of her rival. Noor, however, toiled to overpower Meheq Khokhar 6-1, 5-7, 6-1.
