Differently able people demand govt jobs

SWAT: The differently able people on Wednesday complained about lack of financial support, non-provision of wheelchairs and non-implementation of their job quota.

They were speaking at an open kutchery called by the district administration for differently able persons at the Special Education Centre in Mingora here.

Assistant commissioner, Babuzai, Asghar Surani, additional assistant commissioner Sohail Khan, and officers from different departments were in attendance.

The differently able persons also complained about non-implementation of their quota in government jobs. They said the special children faced problems in getting scholarships and that there were no skill and employment programmes for them.

On the occasion, assistant commissioner Asghar Surani said job quota for differently able persons was being implemented as relevant departments were working on the matter.

He said a school for differently able children was under construction in the area.

Mr Surani said management of hospitals in the district would be asked to make arrangements for treatment of special persons on priority. He said differently able students would be allocated special seats in schools.

He said procedure for payment of cash under Pakistan Baitul Mal and Ehsaas programme would be simplified for special persons.
