From The Past Pages Of Dawn: 1947: Seventy-five years ago: Political readjustments

(EDITORIAL) The long-awaited step has at last been taken by the Muslim League High Command and the All-India Council has been summoned to meet in Karachi on December 13 for a 3-day session. Many had been impatiently waiting for this move which they considered overdue in view of the great change which took place on August 15 and which call for a corresponding readjustment of Muslim political organisation to suit the new conditions in both the Dominions.

…The Lahore report suggests that “the All-India Muslim League will be wound up at the forthcoming meeting of the League Council” and that it will be replaced in Pakistan by a “Pakistan National League which would be open to all nationals of Pakistan irrespective of their religion, caste or creed”. … [T]here can no longer be an “all-India” organisation of Muslims in the old sense of the term for the simple reason that the geographical entity known as “all-India” ceased to exist with effect from the 15th of August 1947. Simultaneously with this change the nature of the political problems confronting Muslims have also become different… .
