Queens Pride favourite to clinch November Cup

KARACHI: Fancied half-bred filly Queens Pride is expected to keep her winning run intact should she maintain her form in the November Cup when it takes place in the Gymkhana race meeting here at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

Having won her last outing on Nov 12 by whopping eight lengths, she is pitted alongside 13 other aspirants in the November Cup which is the fourth race of a five-race card drawn for the day. The race which has been classified under scale order III and IV will go over five furlongs.

She is likely to be followed by mares Heer and Golden Arrow for the next two places.

The fifth and last race, which is also day’s feature event under top scale order I and II, appears to be a two-horse affair between colt King’s Ransom and mare Princess Maria and whosoever is backed by connections will clinch it.

The race has a field of seven horses and will be contested over five furlongs.

Bay horse Faisal King is on chance to make amends by overcoming the opponents in the opening race under lowest scale order VIII to be run over four furlongs.

Arsalan Choice and Faisal Choice may follow in the footsteps of Faisal King among 13 starters.

Filly Fiona is likely to dominate the second race under scale order VII being run over four furlongs.

However, she has to thwart the challenge from mare Sherzadi, who is on course of a hat-trick, and bay horse Achilles among a dozen horses.

If nothing unforeseen happens, thoroughbred filly English Doll is tipped to stretch her winning sequence by capturing the third race under scale order IV, V and VI being run over four-and-a-half furlongs.

She may be chased by Baba Jani and Victor among 14 contenders.

The first race starts at 1:30pm.
