School principal, nephew gunned down in Bajaur

BAJAUR: Principal of a private school and his nephew were killed when unknown assailants opened fire on them in Kotaki area of Salarzai tehsil here on Saturday, Rescue 1122 officials and residents said.

They said Malik Bakhat Rawan along with his nephew, Tariq Jamil, was on way to his native Bar Raghagan area when assailants opened fire on them.

Rescue officials said Bakhat Rawan, 45, and Tariq Jamil, 28, were critically injured in the attack and died while being shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Khar.

Both the victims were also relatives of PPP former MNA Sayed Akhunzada Chattan.

In a social media post, Mr Chattan said the deceased were his cousins, stating both were the PPP workers. No one claimed responsibility for the attack.

Meanwhile, family members of the victims and local residents staged a demonstration against the delay in postmortem of the bodies at the hospital.

The protesters alleged bodies of the victims lied in hospital for two hours but the doctors did not conduct the postmortem.

The protesters ended the agitation after medical superintendent Dr Liaqat Khan directed prompt postmortem of the bodies.
