Foreman, three workers suffer burns in grid station fire

SUKKUR: A foreman and three workers of a grid station in Kashmore suffered burns in a fire that broke out at the installation on Friday. The city and its adjoining areas fed through the grid station remained without electricity for the whole day.

Executive engineer of the Sukkur Electric Supply Company (Sepco) at Kashmore Abdullah Ansari said that the fire broke out while the victims were trying to remove a trolley from inside the station.

Foreman Habib-ur-Rehman Noonari and three other employees, Hakim Bahalkani, Nizam Khoso and Mir Khan Chachar, sustained burns in the incident, he added.

They were rushed to the local civil hospital, where the three employees were admitted for treatment. Mr Noonari, however, was referred to a major hospital due to his serious condition.

Soon after the incident, power supply to the city and its surrounding areas went off. It took the local Sepco authorities a whole day to restore supply to the affected areas.
