SUICIDE CASES

SUICIDE CASES: Growing suicide cases in Balochistan is a serious concern for one and all. More alarming is the fact that the young are more involved in such cases than the rest. Though there may well be several factors behind the cases, like unemployment, childhood trauma, depression, etc., it is the intensity of the problem rather than the problem itself that is causing such inescapable darkness in young minds. Balochistan needs to establish a specific team of experts to look into the issue.

SUBMERGED VILLAGE: The recent floods destroyed life in Ghulam Mustafa Jarwar village located in Qambar-Shahdadkot district in Sindh. The whole village has remained submerged to date and people who had been evacuated are unable to make their way back to the village. The situation in relief camps is miserable owing to lack of health facilities that has caused a number of diseases. No official has ever visited the villagers, and nobody has any idea how long it will take for life to get back to the routine mode.

MINISTRY OF CLEANLINESS: Keeping in view the filth and dirt that we find everywhere across the land and the resultant health hazards that the situation creates, the government would do well to create a separate ministry to ensure cleanliness in the country. If done properly, it will go a long way towards taking care of environmental hazards, such as air and noise pollution.

On their part, people also need to be more civilised in their approach. At least they should stop being part of the problem.

EXPENSIVE GAS: The price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has increased manifold in Larkana as the local mafia keeps setting the rate at its own whim and fancy. A few days ago, the official price was Rs202 per kg, while it was being sold at Rs250 in the market. This has added to the woes of the common man already facing high inflation.
