Degrees awarded to over 1,800 students at MAJU convocation
KARACHI: More than 1,800 graduates of the Muhammad Ali Jinnah University (MAJU) were awarded degrees in the ninth convocation of the varsity.
Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori was the chief guest of the ceremony for students of Spring 2020, 2021 and 2022.
Sixty-four students got gold medals for the outstanding academic performance, 58 got silver, and nine got a bronze medal.
Maju Vice Chancellor and President Dr Zubair Sheikh was also present. The convocation was held after a passage of two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Tessori said that the country would soon get ample employment opportunities.
He said the youth should play their role in ending the chaos in the country. “After assuming the office of the governor, I have been working for betterment of Karachi and we all should keep our city clean and green,” he said.
On this occasion, Pakistan Engineering Council chairman Engineer Najeeb Haroon, former law minister Barrister Shahida Jameel and others also spoke.
Mr Haroon said: “All parents deserve to be congratulated. MAJU is an excellent university. Today, Pakistan is a nuclear power. Better than before. I can assure you that the paths for the progress are open for Pakistani youth. We can compete with the whole world.”
