TAXILA: There has been no respite from crime in various parts of the twin cities of Taxila and Wah as criminals continue to take up arms against masses in commercial and residential areas, depriving them of cash and valuables worth millions of rupees for the second consecutive day on Sunday.

In the first incident, four armed persons intercepted Syed Hasnain Shah who was going along with Waqas Shah near the railway crossing and at gunpoint snatched cash amounting to Rs800,000 and three mobile phones in the jurisdiction of Taxila police station.

In the same police station’s jurisdiction, auto thieves lifted the car of Asif in mohallah Majhian while Zubair was deprived of his motorcycle in Hakla area and a mobile phone was snatched from Ubaidur Rehman.

Similarly, burglars broke into the house of Gulraiz and escaped with cash, gold ornaments and other valuables.

In Wah Saddar police station’s jurisdiction, two armed persons riding on a motorcycle snatched cash and a mobile phone from Mohammad Saeed in Dhoke Gujjar area and the same from Ghulam Habib in Malikabad area. Armed persons deprived Shoaib of his mobile phone in Wah Cantonment area and escaped.

Respective police registered separate cases and launched further investigation.

Gujar Khan

Residents of Gujar Khan continue to lose their valuables at the hands of robbers while no significant recovery could be made by Gujar Khan, Jatli and Mandra police of the tehsil.

According to details, Jamal Khan a fruit vendor in Main Bazar of the city said that he was going to purchase fruit for his shop early in the morning when two men intercepted him and snatched cash Rs65,000 and other documents from him. Similarly, cash and valuables were snatched from Shakeel uz Zaman Mohammad Suleman, told police that Rs230,000 was stolen from the toolbox of his rickshaw. Mohammad Gulfraz, a resident of Ratalla village, told police that he was on his way to the bank to submit cash Rs2.7 million when three armed men snatched it along with other valuables.

Rizwan Shafiq, a resident of Chakri Wakeelan village told police that him and his family had gone to the hospital and upon returning, they found the locks of their house broken and valuables stolen.

Sajid Mehmood, a resident of Mohra Janjua reported to the Jatli police that expensive dresses besides cash and gold jewellery were stolen from his house.

Traders of Gujar Khan held a press conference in Gujar Khan and demanded that a safe city project should be launched.

The traders lambasted the performance of police and said that no significant recovery could be made as criminals were at large.
