NA speaker asks world to take notice of Indian atrocities

GUJAR KHAN: National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf on Sunday said Pakistan was committed to the peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue in accordance with the United Nations Security Council resolutions and the country’s parliament would continue to play its role in this regard.

Talking to Dawn, the NA speaker said Nov 6 reminded people of the tragedy when the forces of Dogra Maharaja Hari Singh attacked Jammu and its surrounding areas. He said thousands of Muslims were martyred by the forces of Dogra Maharaja and their blood would not go in vain.

Mr Ashraf said the hands of the so-called “democratic” government of India were stained with the blood of thousands of Kashmiri martyrs.

He urged the international community to take strict notice of the atrocities committed by India and play a role in ending the human rights violations in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

He said a number of resolutions had been passed by the National Assembly against the atrocities being committed by the Indian forces in the occupied valley, adding that Pakistan would continue to provide moral, political and diplomatic support to the struggle of the Kashmiri people for their self-determination at every forum.

He said the day was not far when the people of Kashmir would get liberation.
