BAJAUR: Senior officials of the security forces and the district administration on Friday assured the residents of Batwar area, located near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, in Salarzai tehsil, of providing them with basic facilities of life.

The promise was made by Bajaur Scouts Commandant Brigadier Rao Imran and deputy commissioner Fahad Wazir while speaking to the local elders, according to a statement.

The officials accompanied by district police officer Abdul Samad Khan, district health officer Dr Faisal Kamal and heads of departments visited the area to know about the problems facing the local residents.

The officials were informed by the elders that Batwar was a backward area located in mountains. The elders said the locality had been without basic facilities. Responding to the elders’ complaints, both the officials assured them to provide civic facilities to the residents with immediate effect.

Later, the visiting officials inaugurated a girls primary school in the area established in a private building.
