High court panel gets PCBL land retrieved

LAHORE: A committee constituted on the order of the Lahore High Court has recovered over 5,000 kanal land of the Punjab Cooperative Board of Liquidation (PCBL) worth Rs70 billion from the land grabbers.

A statement issued by the LHC says the committee, comprising Additional IG Operations Punjab Sahibzada Shahzad Sultan, Member (Consolidation) Board of Revenue, Meher Muhammad Hayat Lak and Secretary PCBL, Dr. Noor Muhammad Awan, registered cases against encroachers and the land mafia.

The committee also identified land of the PCBL which was not known to the organisation.

The committee filed suits of recovery, partition and transfer of the land in the concerned courts where matters are pending adjudication.

Lauding the efforts of the members, LHC cooperative judge Justice Masud Abid Naqvi said the state land was a national asset and those who dedicated their time, energy and life for its protection were worthy of praise. The judge also directed to send the order based on the efforts of the committee to the Punjab chief secretary so that it can be placed in the service records of the committee members.
