Rapist gets 20-year jail term

TAXILA: A local court in Pindigheb on Saturday sentenced a man for 20 years’ imprisonment besides imposing a fine of Rs100,000 for raping a woman in February.

In another case, a court in Fatehjang sentenced a man to life imprisonment besides imposing fine for murdering a man over an old enmity.

The additional sessions judge Raja Mohammad Ajmal sentenced Mohammad Daud to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs300,000.

During proceedings, the prosecution contended that substantial evidence was available on record which established involvement of the accused in the murder. Meanwhile, two persons were arrested for crimes against women in two separate incidents in Attock on Saturday. In the first incident, a girl – a resident of village Bhall Syidain has reported to Police that the accused Nazakat Hussain Shah forcefully entered into her house and at gunpoint trashed.

Taking action over her complaint, police arrested the accused after registration of a case against him.

In another incident, a man was arrested during the botched attempt to abduct a teenage girl in Daman area in the limits of Hazro Police station.

The girl has reported to Police that she was going to bazaar when a man attempted to abduct her. As she voiced alarm, some passersby came and rescued her from the clutches of the abductor.

The accused managed to escape from the scene and was later arrested and sent behind the bars.
