International Artist Day celebrated at Alhamra
LAHORE: Young singers and musicians through a musical evening celebrated the International Artist Day at Alhamra Art Centre, The Mall, on Tuesday.
The evening was organised by Alhamra Academy of Performing Arts.
Academy in-charge Naveen Roma told Dawn that to step along with the rest of the world, the Lahore Arts Council took the initiative to celebrate the day by inviting young singers as well as established voices from the academy and from the audiences.
The stage was set at the green lawns of Alhamra where a live orchestra performed; however, the sound system caused some glitches.

The evening opened with a group performance of guitar players who played Mahi Yaar Di Ghroli on guitars.
The singers and musicians were given a free choice to perform whatever song they wanted to but it had to be the Pakistani content.
Tehseen sang Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s ghazal Guloon Mein Rang Bharay, Imran Aslam Teray Bina Nahi Lagda Dil Mera while Nauman sang Hona Tha Piyar Huwa Meray Yar, a popular song of Atif Aslam, both also. Awais sang Sanu Ik Pal Chaen Nah Aaway.
Umair Ali enthralled the audience with Teri Yaad Satandi, Neender Nahi Aandi, a famous number sung by Sajjad Ali. Hussian Farooqi sang Mein Tenu Samjhanwan Keeh. Aman Ilyas from Punjab University, who was sitting among the audience, sang a Punjabi number Tasweer Bana Key Teri Mein.
Singer Abdul Rauf sang Piyar Nahi Hai Sur Say Jisko.
The evening concluded with singer Imran Jaffri who stole the show by singing two songs Piyar Dil Mein Jaga and Tu Meri Zindagi Hai.
The audience thoroughly enjoyed the evening and appreciated the singers and musicians with generous applause. It was a non-ticketed event.
