BISP disbursement to flood-hit reaches Rs65.7bn: minister

ISLAMABAD: The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has so far disbursed Rs65.7 billion among the flood-affected people across the country, Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Shazia Marri said at a press conference here on Tuesday.

She said the prime minister had announced Rs70bn cash assistance for the flood-affected people and the BISP was assigned the task to distribute it.

The remaining amount, she said, would be disbursed over the next few days.

In reply to a question, Ms Marri said the BISP would prepare a ‘Dynamic Registry’ so that more poor people could be included in the programme for financial assistance.
