No more talks with govt, says Bugti

QUETTA, Dec 24: Chief of Jamhoori Watan Party Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti has ruled out any more negotiations with the government, saying it had broken the ceasefire agreement. Speaking to newsmen in Dera Bugti on Saturday, he said the rulers had imposed a long war to crush Baloch people.

“There is no room for negotiation with rulers as all accords of ceasefire had been broken by them,” he said, adding that an unrelenting war had been started in Balochistan that was giving rise to hatred.

He said that forces build-up could be seen in and around Dera Bugti and the Marri agency while a military operation was in progress in the tribal district of Kohlu.

He said the ceasefire agreement came to a nought on Dec 17, which had been reached between the government and the Bugti tribe after several rounds of talks with Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Mushahid Hussian Syed in connection with the March 17 incident.

“The military rulers never keep their promises,” Nawab Bugti said and added that “they have launched a war against our people who are resisting it”.

He said the youth were rendering sacrifices for defending their motherland.

Replying to a question about government’s talks of removing reservations of the provinces, he said General Musharraf was implementing his programme “to eliminate all of us”.

About the Kalabagh dam, he said the rulers were implementing all plans and projects which were against the interests of the nation and the country, including the Kalabagh dam.

He said that it was a matter of satisfaction that the government representatives of Sindh, including Muhajirs, had strongly opposed the Kalabagh dam project but in Balochistan the attitude of the government representatives was like that of Pir Pagara.

Nawab Bugti informed newsmen about the alleged action of the armed forces in the Bugti area close to the Marri agency, claiming that 20 people had been killed and over 80 injured in helicopter and jet aircraft attacks.

He said that most of the dead and injured included women and children.
