Jinnah College clinches top positions in intermediate exam

PESHAWAR: The students of Jinnah College for Women secured all the three top positions in the intermediate examination as the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Peshawar announced the results here on Thursday.

Jinnah College’s Zainab Zahoor Khan got first position by securing 1,064 marks and Aiman Gulalay of the same college stood second with 1,063 marks while Touba Azaeem another student of the college secured third position by getting 1,061 marks. All three of them were students of the pre-medical group.

Similarly, Jinnah College’s student Sabeen Saifullah Khan topped the humanities group by securing 1,044 marks while Fareena Khan and Jaweria Tanveer of the same college stood second and third, respectively, as both of them secured 1,027 marks.

In the pre-engineering group, Mohammad Tauqeer Zaman of Government College Peshawar stood first by securing 1,059 marks and Mohammad Shariq of Peshawar Model Degree College for Boys got second position with 1,046 marks while Faizanullah of Pak-Turk Maarif International School stood third by getting 1,037 marks.

According to BISE Peshawar, a total of 55,770 students appeared in the intermediate second year examinations and 48,600 of them were declared successful while the results remained 87.1 per cent.

It said that 9,554 students, who appeared in the examinations, secured A1 grade while 9,799 others got A grade and 11,943 acquired B grade.

Similarly, a total of 59,644 students appeared in the intermediate first year examinations and 55,856 of them were declared successful with a percentage of 93.6. A total of 7,071 students got A1 grade, 9,526 secured A grade and 11,705 received B grade.

Separately, in a statement issued here, University of Peshawar Vice-chancellor Prof Mohammad Idrees congratulated the position holder students of Jinnah College, their parents, Principal Dr Tazeen Gul and all staffers for the achievement.

He also pledged to provide more facilities for curricular and co-curricular activities to the college.
