Attempts to sabotage peace to be thwarted, says KP police chief

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Moazzam Jah Ansari has said restoration of peace and ensuring law and order is the top priority of his department and that attempts to sabotage peace would be thwarted.

He stated this during a meeting with officials held here on Tuesday. Dera regional police officer Shaukat Abbas, district police officer Najmul Hasnain Liaquat, DPO Tank Waqar Ahmad, DPO South Waziristan Atiqullah Wazir and Counter-Terrorism Department SP Iftikhar Shah were in attendance, according to press release.

Mr Ansari said the enemy was trying to spread chaos and instability in the country by fueling sectarianism, which he said could be defeated through citizens’ cooperation. “We will give a terror-free Pakistan to future generations,” he said.

RPO Shaukat Abbas briefed the provincial police chief about the law and order situation, security matters and the role of police in dealing with anti-state elements.

The IGP directed the police authorities to keep a close watch on movement of terrorists and take concrete steps to eliminate the elements undermining the peace. He said the enemy was using a new strategy to spread chaos through sectarianism, but it was responsibility of all to promote mutual unity, love and brotherhood to thwart such designs.
