Seven terrorists killed in KP operations: ISPR

PESHAWAR: Over half a dozen terrorists were gunned down in a single day in two districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, officials said on Tuesday.

Four terrorists were killed in Tank district and three others on the outskirts of capital Peshawar, where two soldiers embraced martyrdom during operations on Monday night.

The military’s public relations wing, Inter-Services Public Relations, said two security personnel were martyred and three terrorists were killed in a clash between security forces and terrorists in Hassan Khel area, on the outskirts of Peshawar.

The ISPR said the clash had started after the terrorists attacked a military convoy in Hassan Khel area, located on the southern fringes of the provincial capital. Troops responded to the attack, resulting in the killing of the three terrorists, it said, adding that they were actively involved in acts of terror against security forces.

During the exchange of fire, it said, two security personnel, Mohammad Panah, a Pakistan Army soldier from Jafferabad, and Shamullah of Frontier Constabulary, belonging to South Waziristan, embraced martyrdom.

The statement said ‘sanitisation’ of the area was being carried out to eliminate terrorists in the area.

Separately, Pakistan Army claimed to have killed four terrorists after observing their movement in Tank district, ISPR said.

In a tweet, it said troops effectively observed the movement of some terrorists in Ranowal area of Tank. Army personnel, after observing movement of terrorists, attacked and killed four of them in an ensuing exchange of fire.

“Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed terrorists. These terrorists remained actively involved in target killing, kidnapping and extortion in the area,” ISPR added.

According to another source, one of the killed terrorists was identified as Zubair, son of Juma, resident of Tank, while the identity of remaining three terrorists could not be ascertained immediately.
