LAHORE: The Central Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Mian Mahmud Ali Kasuri, today [Sept 30] lashed out at the Punjab Governor, Malik Ghulam Mustafa Khar, for making “an outrageous statement” in which a direct threat had been hurled at him by the Governor. In a hard-hitting rejoinder to the Governor’s Press interview, which described the resigning Central Ministers as political non-entities who owed their success in elections entirely to the personal popularity of Chairman Bhutto and against whom party workers had serious complaints, so much so that they had been seeking permission to “gherao” them and take them to task for resigning on paltry grounds, Mian Kasuri said that no threat … could have the slightest impact on his opinions and actions. ... Mr Kasuri said: “Let me remind Mr Khar that such Thanedari died with Kalabagh as a result of the citizens’ glorious struggle ... .[”] — Staff correspondent

[Meanwhile, according to news agencies in Rawalpindi,] Sardar Mohammad Ibrahim Khan, President of All-Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference, has requested President Bhutto to take the Azad Kashmir Government, the Azad Kashmir Assembly and the Kashmiri leaders into confidence with regard to the delineation of the line of control… .
