A PIECE OF ADVICE

A PIECE OF ADVICE: Those who are brave and gallant do not abdicate … they are prepared even to offer life to honour their word, said Hamal Fakir. And, in the words of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, ‘Syed will take care on the Day of Judgment’ if people do what they are supposed to do. The advice from the two savants to the former prime minister sitting in London seems to be to come back. Instead of running the affairs from far away, he should return and be amid his people in this time of crisis.

GARBAGE TRANSPORTATION: Every morning, I see trucks on Sharea Faisal shifting garbage to dumping sites. These trucks release foul smell, and hinder traffic flow. People are in a hurry to reach their offices on time, but these trucks make it almost impossible for anyone to reach anywhere on time. The government should come up with an alternative plan to move the garbage.

HARNESSING POTENTIAL: For any country, youth is a significant human resource. The potential of youth can help drive a country out of a crisis if it is properly harnessed. Sadly, Pakistan has a young population, but there is no concrete effort to harness their potential and energy. Pakistani youth needs a serious course correction and the government needs to facilitate the process by harnessing its potential.

IGNORING ARCHAEOLOGY: It is rather tragic that Archaeology, as a discipline, is not on the list announced by the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) for jobs in the Culture, Tourism, Antiquities and Archives Department. The province has archaeological heritage in plenty, and one primarily needs archaeologists to preserve such sites. It is ironic that, despite the heritage sites, the province has no jobs for relevant graduates and is ignoring the discipline altogether, which is sheer injustice on multiple counts.
