Chinese firm donates Rs4.5 million for rehabilitation of flood victims

ISLAMABAD: A delegation from a Chinese construction company called on Chairman Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) Sardar Shahid Ahmed Laghari and presented a donation cheque for Rs4.5 million to him for the relief and rehabilitation of the flood-affected families.

According to a statement, company Director Li-Ping and Deputy Director Chen Zhihang of Yunnan Sunny Road and Bridge Company handed over the cheque to the PRCS chairman at a ceremony held at the national headquarters.

In another event, a MoU was signed between Metro Pakistan and the PRCS for providing food items to the flood victims. According to the initiative, the flood-affected households will be provided with food and household items on a humanitarian basis.

Metro Cash and Carry will supply goods worth Rs11 million to the Red Crescent till December 31, 2022.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Laghari thanked the Chinese company and Metro Pakistan for their support and hoped that the donation would help in alleviating the sufferings of the flood affectees.

He said PRCS relief operations were ongoing in the flood-affected areas and recent floods had caused a lot of destruction in Sindh and Balochistan.
