SIALKOT, Dec 22: Six armed men set fire to two tractors of a kiln owner after opening an indiscriminate fire at the kiln in Gojra village, Daska, late Wednesday night. Muhammad Mushtaq Rehmani, the kiln owner, had reportedly refused to pay them Jagga (forced) tax.
According to the FIR, a local criminal demanded Rs1 million as forced tax from Mushtaq, who refused to make any payment. The infuriated culprit, along with his five accomplices, stormed into the kiln, held up the labourers and opened fire.
Later, they drove the kiln owner’s two tractors with number plates (STL-2258 and SAD-9653) to some distance and set them ablaze. The gangsters fled firing in the air.
The Bambaanwala police have registered a case against the suspects under sections 148, 149, 324, 386, 427, 436 PPC and 7 of ATA, but yet to apprehend them.
Daska ASP Ali Javed Anwar Malik told newsmen that the suspects would be arrested within a day or two.
ARRESTED: Motra police on Thursday arrested over half a dozen owners of mini cinema houses for showing obscene films in Baig Chak, Motra, Jamkey Cheema and Bhaanokey.
Those arrested included, Mudassar Khan, Nasir Khan, Ansar Ali, Waris Ali and Majeed Ali. Police also recovered obscene CDs in large number from mini cinema houses established at video centres.
Motra SHO Rana Zahid Husain told reporters that the police had registered separate cases and sent the accused behind bars.
