Dawn art show for flood relief today

KARACHI: Dawn Relief: The Way Forward, a project of the Dawn Foundation, is holding an art show for flood relief titled A Picture of Hope in collaboration with the Curated Plate at the Arts Council of Pakistan on Sunday (today).

The show will include a photography exhibition as well as an art exhibition.

Visitors will have a chance to view and appreciate photography by some of the most well-known photography enthusiasts, including Ali Khurshid, Arif Ali, Arif Mahmood, Ayesha Vellani, Kohi Marri, Mahmood Qureshi, Pervaiz Ahmad Khan, Stephan Andrew, Tapu Javeri and Umair Ghani.

A number of artists have also contributed their paintings for the exhibition, including Ashir Bhatti, Beygum Bano, Daft Draft, Faizan Riedinger, Fizza Saleem, IRDK Maham, K. Align, Marium Kamal, Mughal Empress and Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.

There will also be some especially-made items up for sale for donations such as children’s drawings and paintings, vinyl records, old newspaper posters, photographer frames, Tethys’ images, big photograph frames printed on canvas, posters of pop artists, etc.

In addition to this, there will also be a live mural being painted at the event by Marium and Safwan Subzwari, which will also be auctioned off.

There will also be a projector screen displaying information about Dawn Relief and the current floods with statistics, and the visitors will also be able to sample a tent which the Dawn Relief team is setting up in flood-hit areas.
