Cutting of trees in hospital resented

SWAT: Environmental activists and civil society members here on Thursday announced to hold a protest on Friday (today) against the cutting of precious trees in the Saidu Sharif Teaching Hospital.

They showed their anger and concern after they learnt about the cuttingof scores of trees in the hospital and said that these trees were planted during the former Swat state to keep the hospital’s environment clean and healthy.

“Today, we saw that many trees were felled by the hospital administration which was shocking for us and we will take to the streets against this,” said Amjad Ali, a civil society member in Mingora.

He said that many precious trees were wiped out in upper Swat by the recent floods creating climate hazard in the region.

The civil society members they would stage a protest on Friday in front of the hospital against the cutting of trees.
