40 private medical centres sealed in Kohat

KOHAT: The healthcare commission sealed 40 private medical centres over use of expired syringes and unhygienic conditions during an operation in the district on Thursday.

A statement issued here said that in all 130 centres, including private hospitals, were inspected and action was taken for negligence in abiding by the health principles.

The commission also issued show cause notices to 30 health centres to improve their working.

Liaquat Memorial Hospital medical superintendent Dr Hashim Bokhari said that quacks had been working in most of the rural areas and playing with the lives of people by giving them unregistered cheap medicines.

Meanwhile, the education department has issued new standard operational procedures, ordered fixing of one day a month for cleaning of classrooms, staff rooms and display of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa flag and world map at the open places.

FISHING BANNED: The fisheries department on Thursday banned netting and hooking of fish for three months.

A statement issued here said the hatchlings had just been released into dams and ponds and the fish had laid eggs in the rivers and streams and as such time must be given to the raising of hatchlings. The violators could face imprisonment and fines, it said.

INFORMATION DEPT’S ROLE: Director information, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Noorul Hadi said on Thursday that his department had been playing the role of a bridge between the government and masses in cases of calamities and disasters.

He was speaking during a visit to the Radio Kohat and regional information department. The head of radio station, Irshad Afridi, and regional director, Kohat division, Sarwar Khattak accompanied him.

PASSING-OUT PARADE: The 444 cadets who qualified the 30th assistant sub-inspector and upper intermediate courses from Hangu police college passed out at a ceremony on Thursday.

Deputy commandant of the college, Shahjehan, gave away trophies and certificates to the outstanding cadets.
