Three soldiers martyred in cross-border attack

PESHAWAR: Three army soldiers embraced martyrdom in Kurram tribal district when terrorists attacked them from Afghanistan.

According to a statement issued by ISPR, terrorists from inside Afghanistan opened fire across the international border on Pakistani troops in general area Kharlachi, Kurram district.

Pakistan Army responded in a befitting manner. As per credible intelligence reports, terrorists suffered heavy casualties.

However, during fire exchange, 32-year-old Naik Mohammad Rehman, a resident of Karak, 34-year-old Naik Maweez Khan, a resident of Jamrud in Khyber tribal district and 27-year-old Sepoy Irfanullah, a resident of Dargai in Malakand, having fought gallantly, embraced martyrdom.

Pakistan has strongly condemned the use of Afghan soil by terrorists for activities against Pakistan and expects that Afghan government will not allow conduct of such activities in future.

“Army is determined to defend Pakistan’s borders against the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve,” said the statement.
