Lumberdars’ help sought for agri tax recovery

KASUR: The district administration has sought help from village lumberdars to achieve revenue target regarding provincial agriculture income tax (mahsolat) and play their role to take the government facilities to the doorstep of farmers.

Deputy Commissioner Fiaz Ahmed Mohal while addressing a lumberdar convention in Pattoki on Saturday said the local administration and lumberdars could play a vital role in improving the tax network.

Mr. Moral said the lumberdars ought to keep a vigilant eye on the hoarders and profiteers of fertilisers. He also enumerated the provincial government package for lumberdars.

The DC also announced seminars regarding vaccination of cows against lumpy skin disease at the outhouses of lumberdars to raise awareness among the farmers. The DC claimed that scores of teams were in the field to vaccinate the animals against the skin disease free of cost.

The lumberdars and tehsil administration representatives also spoke on the occasion.

PROTEST: Scores of villagers staged a protest demonstration against police fore what they said its failure to protect their lives and properties here on Saturday near Pial Kalan village in the limits of Mandi Usmanwala police station.

Over a dozen house robberies in a few days took the villagers to streets.

The club-wielding protesters blocked Mandi Usmanwala Dhing Shah road by burning tyres to express their concern over the rising incidence of robbery. They also chanted slogans against police.

Four robberies on the night between Friday and Saturday at Pial Kalan forced the villagers to lodge a protest.

According to protesters, ASI Saleem Ahmed, when informed, reached the spot, and allegedly insulted the villagers for keeping cash and valuables in their houses.

Speaking on the occasion, the protesters, including Kisan Ittehad information secretary Sadiq Abid, said police used to adopt delaying tactics for case registration on one pretext or the other.

The protesters demanded protection of their lives and properties and registration of cases.

They dispersed after Station House Officer Imran Javid assured them of registration of cases.
