Reconstruction of damaged roads to take three months

ISLAMABAD: The recent floods have damaged 14 roads of the National Highway Authority (NHA) which will be reconstructed in about three months, NHA officials told a parliamentary committee on Thursday.

The meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Communications was held in the Parliament House with its Chairman Mohammad Abdul Ghafar Watto in the chair.

NHA officials briefed members about damages and informed them that reconstruction work had already been started and would complete in three months.

The committee offered Fateha for the departed souls who died in floods and extended sympathies and condolences to their families. It passed a resolution expressing support to the affected people.

A resolution moved by committee members Jai Parkash and Kesoo Mal Kheal Das was also discussed regarding the service road along with M-9 Motorway.

It was decided that the chairman of NHA and representative of Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) would brief the committee in the next meeting.

Those who attended the meeting included MNAs Chaudhary Khalid Javed, Rana Mohammad Ishaq Khan, Dr Darshan, Syed Abrar Ali Shah, Ramesh Lal, Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali, Usama Qadri, Mir Khan Mohammad Jamali and Kesoo Mal Kheal Das besides officials from the NHA and the Ministry of Communications.
