PFA seals spice factory in Shakargarh

NAROWAL: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) sealed a spice factory after 800kg of substandard red chillies and other spices were recovered from it during a raid in Shakargarh on Thursday.

The factory was situated on the Ikhlaspur Road.

A team, led by PFA Deputy Director Hafiz Muhammad Imran, found chemicals used to make the fake chilli powder.

Mr Imran said the factory used to make spices on a large scale and supply it to Narowal, Sialkot, Gujranwala and Sheikhupura districts. The authority sealed the factory and disposed of the seized spices.

On the complaint of the authority, the Shakargarh Police Station registered a case against the factory owner, Sultan Mehmood.
