Imran, other party leaders booked in another case

ISLAMABAD: The capital police registered a case against former prime minister and PTI chief Imran Khan and other leaders of the party for taking out a rally in support of Shahbaz Gill and demanding his release, police said.

The case was registered at the Aabpara police station on Monday night under sections 188, 186, 506, 341 and 109 of Pakistan Penal Code and the amplifier Act.

According to the FIR, Murad Saeed, Faisal Javed Khan, Asad Umar, Raja Khurram, Ali Nawaz, Faisal Vawda, Shahzad Waseem, Sadaqat Ali Abbasi, Shibli Faraz, Fawad Chaudhry, Saifullah Khan Niazi, Shehryar Afridi, Fayazul Hassan Chohan, Firdous Shamim Naqvi, Asad Qaiser, Zaheer Abbas Khokhar, Ghulam Sarwar Khan and other men and women at the behest of PTI Chairman Imran Khan gathered at Zero Point on August 20 evening.

There were about 1,200 people holding PTI’s banners and flags besides chanting slogans in favour of Mr Gill and demanding his release. They blocked the road and frightened and threatened the citizens, the FIR said.

They also intercepted people which caused lots of difficulty in their daily routine. They also chanted anti-government slogans on loudspeakers.

The participants were informed about Section 144 imposed in the capital banning protests and rallies and also asked to disperse, but they ignored and moved towards F-9 Park.

An officer told Dawn on condition of anonymity that legal proceedings were being initiated and those nominated in the FIR were likely to be arrested.
