Animals trade at unspecified areas prohibited

LAHORE: The Punjab home department on Monday separately notified prohibition of sale and purchase of sacrificial animals outside the designated areas as well as burning of heads and feet of sacrificial animals at public places on the occasion of Eidul Azha.

The department has notified that the sale and purchase of sacrificial animals outside the designated areas/places notified by the respective district governments is prohibited. This order shall remain in force across the province from July 4 to 12.

The home department has found that the sale and purchase of sacrificial animals was being carried out at unauthorised places including parks/ roadsides and cause traffic problems and nuisance and resentment among the general public.

In another notification, the home department has prohibited burning of heads and feet of sacrificial animals on public places, open places, roads and streets across the province. The department has also prohibited throwing of entrails of sacrificial animals in canals, drains and sewer lines. This order shall remain in force from July 10 to 12.
