Health services academy to have medical technology zone

ISLAMABAD: Vice Chancellor Health Services Academy (HSA) Prof Dr Shahzad Ali Khan on Saturday said that a medical technology zone would be established in the academy.

“Health related issues can only be addressed by using advanced medical technology,” Dr Khan said while speaking at the first international ‘Medical Conference and Exhibition on Next-generation Healthcare’.

The conference was organised by the HSA in collaboration with the Dynamic Medical Company under the aegis of the Ministry of National Health Services.

The vice chancellor said medical technology offered solution to health issues in an inefficient healthcare system of Pakistan.

He said being the fifth most populous country, there were a number of issues related to genetics.

“There is a wide scope of doing research and work on the eradication and control of genetic-related diseases,” he said.

Sessions on various themes were held and attended by researchers and doctors from South Korea, Singapore, Norway, Finland, Germany, Turkey, China and Pakistan.

One of the major objectives of the conference was to make the participants and people aware of hereditary and genetic disorders, their timely diagnosis and available treatments.

Pakistan is enlisted among those countries with high genetic disorders cases.

The increased incidence and prevalence of the genetic disorders are associated with lack of pre-natal testing facilities in the country.
