LAHORE: The National College of Arts (NCA) in collaboration with the embassy of the Czech Republic will display the posters of 100 eminent women from different walks of life -- 50 each from both countries -- in connection with the 75th Independence Day celebrations of Pakistan.

NCA Vice-Chancellor Murtaza Jaffri told Dawn the exhibition, which will open on Aug 14, will pay rich tributes to the eminent women, role models and heroines of their respective fields.

“The exhibition is aimed at paying tribute to the leading women from Pakistan and the Czech Republic, and especially to those who are not that famous, but have huge contributions to their respective fields,” he said.

Mr Jaffri said wooden frames bearing posters of the women would also be displayed on the outer wall of the NCA as a prelude to the exhibition. A coffee table book is also being launched in October along with the exhibition as Oct 28 is the National Day of the Czech Republic.

Some of the names from Pakistan whose posters will be exhibited include Fatima Jinnah, Begum Rana Liaquat Ali Khan, Begum Naseem Wali Khan, Noor Jahan, Benazir Bhutto, Asma Jahangir, Malka Pukhraj, Roohi Bano, Parveen Shakir, Fatima Suriya Bajiya, Ana Molka Ahmed, Nazia Hassan and Zubaida Khanum.
