Balochistan cabinet approves deployment of security forces at highways

QUETTA: The Balochistan cabinet has approved deployment of security forces at all national highways in the province for providing foolproof security to development projects.

A meeting of the cabinet presided over by Chief Minister Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo here on Tuesday took decisions on some important issues. The meeting had a 30-point agenda, including security of foreign investors.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had during his recent visit to Gwadar expressed concern over the lack of security of foreign investors and their companies’ staff.

Official sources said the cabinet app­roved different development projects dur­ing the meeting. The meeting revie­wed the progress on ongoing federal and provincial development projects.

The additional chief secretary of home and tribal affairs briefed the cabinet on security issues. The cabinet vowed to continue the development process in the province without any hindrance and agreed on effective measures to provide foolproof security to national highways and development projects in the province.

The cabinet called for close coordination among security forces to improve the overall law and order situation in the province. The meeting was briefed on the plan to set up Coastal Highway Police. It also approved granting of special court powers to additional district and session judges under the Narcotics Act 1997.
