Covid-hit farmers in Pishin given goats

ISLAMABAD: The Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations has distributed 285 goats among home-based women workers and women farmers affected by the Covid-19 pandemic in Pishin district.

The distribution was carried out under the Multi-Partner Trust Fund (MPTF) project which is investing in rural women by enhancing their capacities, decision-making power and access to key resources, services and opportunities.

A press release of FAO says on Friday that the project is a winning strategy to accelerate progress towards rural development and food security. The $700,000 project is strengthening economic resilience and food security for women home-based workers and women farmers in six districts of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The districts are Quetta, Pishin, Lasbela, Peshawar, Swabi and Kurram.
