Bajaur youth protest against ‘irregularities’ in appointments

BAJAUR: Youth of Bajaur, an association of the local youth, held a protest sit-in here on Thursday against alleged irregularities in recent appointments in various government departments in the district.

Scores of youth from various parts of the district attended the sit-in held outside the main gate of Civil Colony, Khar, which housed the offices of government departments.

Holding placards inscribed with slogans against the alleged irregularities in appointments, the protesters also chanted slogans against the high officials for being part of the mismanagement.

The leaders of Youth of Bajaur said they had solid evidence that merit was violated in the recent appointments on several posts in education, health, forest and wildlife departments.

They alleged that most of the vacancies had been filled through bribes while depriving deserving candidates of their rights. The protesters said that corruption in government departments and especially in the recent recruitment process was a matter of concern for them.

Talking to mediapersons on this occasion, Youth of Bajaur chairman Rehan Zeb Khan said that they arranged the protest after the authorities rejected their demand for conducting a free and fair inquiry into the irregularities in recent appointments.

He alleged that besides senior officials of the relevant departments some local PTI lawmakers were also involved in the illegal recruitment. He vowed that their protest would continue till a proper inquiry was conducted into the recent appointments.
