LAHORE: The Punjab government has asked the price control committees and deputy commissioners to curb price hike and hoarding in the province.

It also rejected a proposal to impose new taxes in this month’s budget keeping in view inflation.

Presiding over a video link meeting of price control committees, commissioners, deputy commissioners and DPOs here on Friday, Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz asked them to hold daily price control committee meetings in DC offices.

It was decided to set up a committee to reduce the prices of ‘roti and naan’ and a uniform price list should be displayed at shops, stalls and markets.

Welcoming a decision of wholesale dealers of Faisalabad not to take profit on pulses, the CM said it was a commendable gesture from the business community to support the government in its efforts to reduce prices.
