Policeman injured in Peshawar gun attack
PESHAWAR: A policeman was injured when unidentified gunmen attacked a checkpoint set up in connection with the anti-polio campaign on the outskirts of the city.
A statement issued here said that the injured policeman was deputed at Zangli checkpost on Kohat Road in the limits of Badhbher police station in connection with the ongoing polio campaign.
The injured constable was identified as Sajid Khan. He was shifted to Lady Reading Hospital for treatment.
Separately, a woman and her son sustained minor injuries when an explosive device went off at the main gate of their residence in Sadaat Town area in the limits of Agha Mir Jani police station early on Monday.
A police official said that device weighing 400 grams went off at the main gate of the residence of Riaz Ahmed located in Sadaat Town. He said that Mr Riaz was a labour councillor of Awami National Party.
The official said that the son and wife of the councillor were injured after being hit by shards of glasses. He said that the family had not received any threat. He added that police were investigating the incident.
