Shakir Ali museum plans dance workshop

LAHORE: Shakir Ali Museum will introduce a one-month dance workshop for youngsters and hold workshops on visual art, music and singing.

Talking to Dawn, in-charge Fatima Salman of the museum, which is also the regional office of Islamabad-based Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA), said Shakir Ali Museum wanted to promote both visual and performing art activities from its platform that is why it has decided to hold these workshops under the summer camp.

The dance workshop featuring classical and cultural dances which would commence from June 1, had already got enrolled 10 students and more would likely to join. “We have advertised details about joining the workshops on the social media,” she said.

The workshop would be conducted by Vicky Samrat, a member of known Samrat family which has been into dance profession for many generations.

There would also be a music/singing workshop in June and it would be conducted by Inam Ali Khan, son of famous Ghazal singer Hamid Ali Khan. This would again be a one-month workshop and youngsters would be able to learn basics of singing provided one has talent, a voice suitable for singing and aptitude for music. The third workshop, which would also commence in June, is of visual art. The drawing workshop will be conducted by Nasir Nirvan from NCA.

Ms Salman said many young visual art enthusiasts had shown interest in the workshop, and some had got enrolment.
