TAXILA: Two policemen were killed and 37 others injured when an official police bus they were travelling in fell into a roadside ditch in Jand on Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Mudassir Hussain, a native of Faisalabad, and Mohammad Javaid, who was from Sialkot.

According to police, the bus was heading towards Islamabad to join law enforcement personnel assigned to handle the PTI protest.

The bus overturned while taking a sharp turn and plunged into a roadside ditch. According to Aamir Nawaz, spokesman for the district emergency centre, 37 other policemen were injured who were shifted to Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital and a private hospital in Mithal. Six of the officials, whowere critically injured, were shifted to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital.
