SWABI: The Awami National Party has called for avoiding politics of confrontation and concentrating on reconciliation to pull the country out of the economic mess.

The party leaders made the call during a meeting held here on Sunday.

The ANP leaders noted that Pakistan’s economic position was moving from bad to worse, drifting the country towards bankruptcy, and this was the time leaders of political parties showed shrewdness to steer the country out of the current quagmire.

Mukhtiar Khan, a local ANP leader, said his party’s leadership was ready to play role alongside other political and religious parties to put the country back on economic recovery path.

“The politics of confrontation is not the solution to the issues facing the country, and there is a dire need to put our heads together to tackle the present difficult situation head-on,” said Amanullah, the ANP district president.

The other speakers said with determination and hard work Pakistanis could stabilise the economic position of the country.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leaders said on Sunday that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan’s derogatory language against the PML-N’s central vice-president Maryam Nawaz had made clear that the PTI leader did not know anything about moral ethics.

Speaking at a meeting held here, Iftikhar Ahmad Khan, PML-N’s divisional vice-president, said the PTI leader had flagrantly violated all norms and introduced politics of confrontation.
